Established in 2013, FC Malaga City Academy began with tour groups for young players and has become Europe’s top private football academy. A decade on, it welcomes over 200 international players each year in Spain. Boasting a senior team in the top national category and a thriving Academy, it has seen over 50 graduates turn professional. The Academy is committed to growing and providing more opportunities for players and their families.
George Jermy founded FC Malaga City Academy to highlight Spain’s elite youth players. Since 2015, the Academy has played showcase games against clubs like Malaga CF, Sevilla FC, and Granada, eventually facing global powerhouses like Barcelona, PSG, and Tottenham. Its broad professional network across Spain and Europe provides unique exposure for players. They are reminded that playing in such elite matches is a rare and privileged experience.
FCMC’s staff, with their professional coaching and playing experience, confidently prepare players for success. This was affirmed in 2016 when our first Academy players, such as Ellis Hare-Reid, Elliot Simons, and Max Mikkola, moved to professional football, enhancing our reputation for developing top talents. Ten years on, we consistently see our players advance to professional levels, with the same enthusiasm as our initial professional signing.
Recognising the need for players aged 18-23 to move from youth to senior football, FCMC Academy acquired CD Almunecar City, a club with rich history but financial challenges. This integration elevated CDAC to the top of our structure, creating a pathway for Academy players into the Spanish League System. Almost a decade later, we’ve celebrated multiple promotions and successes with CD Almunecar City, a key part of our club’s history and evolution.
In 2020, FC Malaga City introduced its Femenino program, a first-of-its-kind in Europe, providing aspiring female athletes with professional training and playing opportunities in Spain. The program rapidly attracted top unsigned female talents, aligned with our club’s ethos. In its short existence, numerous alumni have advanced to professional football worldwide. As we continue to develop the program’s infrastructure, our dedication to player development and progression cements our status as a prominent entity in European women’s football.
FC Malaga City’s ascent to a national professional football club, now competing in TERCERA RFEF, marks a significant milestone. What began as mere pillow talk, seemingly impossible a decade ago, has transformed into an unrivaled platform for player development. Entering the 2021/22 season, the team, previously promoted, faced the Division de Honor, Spain’s 6th football tier. Despite being seen as underdogs due to their youth and inexperience, they defied expectations and achieved another historic promotion to Spain’s first national category.
