CD Almuñecar City U23s B defender Chibuike Maduike called for his team to give their all in this afternoon’s “important” encounter with Celtic Pulianas B.
The Nigerian, who has been a regular in Rafa Montenegro’s team, expressed the determination within the group to finish off the final games of the season strongly.
“We had no match last weekend so the team is looking forward to getting back to competitive football,” he said,
“Today's game is very important for the squad coming up against a good team that will be looking to get revenge after we beat them last time. “We won the game on our home pitch in the first half of the season, despite going down to nine men in the first half.
“There are three league games left and we’ve set goals which we intend to achieve.”
Maduike stated that he has enjoyed his first season in Spain, and feels he has developed both on and off the field.
“On a personal level, I think that my season has been really good,” he continued.
“I am a much better and more confident footballer now than when I arrived here.
“The combination of team training and extra individual training sessions I have done over the course of my time at the academy has improved my quality and raised my level.
“In the long-term I plan on constantly growing and improving my quality in order to become an elite footballer.
“The goal is to continue my development and play professionally in Europe.”
