George Jermy Bolsters CDAC Ranks With The Addition Of 3 New Signings

Head Coach of CD Almuñécar City, George Jermy, certainly has kept busy over the festive period with the addition of 3 new signings who will all join the promotion chasers for the second half of the 2021/22 season.

News broke this week, on our players return to competitive training, that CDAC would welcome in 3 new signings in the form of Oliver Greaves, Jonny Miller and Adelson Junior who would all join the squad in January. Each player bringing with them a unique skill set which will no doubt strengthen the City squad as we head into a decisive part of the season. We caught up with the new arrivals, as the teams starts preparations ahead of their opening fixture of the calendar year.

Oliver Greaves, or Olly as he is more commonly known, is a technically gifted central midfielder that comes from great pedigree, having signed a 2 year pro contract with English pro side Sheffield United. With a great passing range and creativity in the final third, Greaves will no doubt add further quality to the CDAC's robust midfield. The 22 year old commented on his signing by saying "I’m buzzing to get started and be involved in such a great set up! I’ve had a little taster during training and watching the lads in a couple of matches before the Christmas break and there’s some serious talent in the group. Now it’s time to kick on and help the team push towards promotion which is what we’re all aiming for."

Next up on the list, is experienced full back, Jonny Miller, who has enjoyed short spells at the club prior to his arrival this January. Miller started by saying "Firstly I can’t thank George enough for the opportunity. Having known George for several years and seeing how far the academy, FC Malaga City and CD Almunecar have come I’m ecstatic to finally be a part of this project and team. I’m looking forward to getting started and contributing to what is shaping up to be an exciting season. Bring on 2022!" The Englishman will no doubt look to hit the ground running on his arrival this January. Finally, the last addition of the 3 Christmas signings had definitely faced the most difficult journey to get here. Having been due to sign for the club back at the beginning of 2021, Adelson's plans were brought to a crashing halt due to the outbreak of the coronavirus which meant that he was unable to leave his home country of Brazil. The setback did not deter his ambitions however and almost 2 years later the talented forward has arrived in Almunecar raring to go. Adelson said "Being here today is a dream come true since I was little. To receive the opportunity to be part of this family in 2022 is amazing, I am working hard and I have dedicated myself to reach my maximum level to try to help this team achieve our goals, which is promotion. I appreciate the opportunity so much and can't wait to get to work together as a family! Vamos CDAC."

Only time will tell whether this squad has what it takes to secure that all important promotion but the mood around the camp certainly suggests that everyone is ready for the challenge that lies ahead.

Head Coach, George Jermy, commented on the news of the 3 new signings by saying "We've seen the importance already, in the first half of the season, in having a large and highly competitive squad if we're going to continue to challenge for promotion this season. We're delighted to be able to bring Jonny, Ollie and Adelson into this group who we feel will bring some real quality and provide further depth to our squad."

He finished by saying "After finishing the season in some real form coming into Christmas, we're excited to get the full squad back together now and get back to working on the training pitch. We know that there is still a long road ahead of us but we are hoping for a big 2022 for this club and our fans."
