Jose Herrera named Head Coach of FCMC Femenino for the 2021/22 Season

FC Malaga City are delighted to announce the appointment of Jose Herrera - as the club’s new Femenino Head Coach for the 2021/22 season.

Herrera joins FCMC with a wealth of experience within the female Spanish game having held head coaching positions at UDG Tenerife, Malaga CF and more recently Granada CF in the Spanish second division.

Jose started his coaching career in 2007 after graduating with a degree in Teaching and specialised in Physical Education, becoming the first team coach of the EF Rommel Fernández cadet team.

Since then Herrera has gone on to make a big name for himself within the female game, known for his teams organised approach and tactical nouse, and the talented coach will look to replicate his previous success as he joins the FCMC ranks.

We caught up with Coach Herrera to get his thoughts on his new appointment “I feel proud and grateful to announce that I have signed as the head coach of the FC Malaga City Femenino team for the next season."

"I take on this new challenge with lots of excitement and with the objective to help continue growing these footballers and this magnificent club."

Herrera will no doubt have a tough challenge ahead of him after the success of last seasons Femenino squad, with the team going undefeated in regular season play and narrowly missing out on promotion after defeat to Granada CF in the semi-finals - but the new head coach joins #FCMC with his eyes firmly set on going one step further next season.

The club director, George Jermy, had this to say on the appointment "We are delighted to have Jose join our Femenino coaching staff and know that he will bring with him a great deal of experience to our young squad."

"Jose shares the values and mission of the club and we are excited to get the new season underway. We know that Coach Herrera and his talented Femenino squad, will give it everything in order to push for that all important promotion."

We can't wait to get the 2021/22 season underway, as it shapes up to be another highly exciting year for our talented female players.
