Oliveri Pleased With Team's Character

Maxime Oliveri praised the "character" of the team, as FC Malaga City Senior came from behind to secure an important 2-1 victory over AD Malaka.

The French forward scored an inspired second-half brace, as Adrian Dominguez Igual's side remained top of Primera Andaluza (Granada).

Oliveri spoke of the importance of the victory, and praised the collective performance of his teammates.

“We are really happy with the outcome of the game,” Oliveri said.

“We showed real character and the team showed our collectiveness as a group to get back into the game after going behind.

“It was a difficult first half, but we worked hard in the second half with real organisation, which came from the coaching team.

“In the end, we got the result because we were more persistent and consistent, and won the battle in the midfield - which was not easy with the small pitch and against that sort of team, who play really aggressive and very direct.

“We recouped a lot of balls in the middle of the pitch to move into the final third. That worked, we got more opportunities in the box and in the end, we got back into the game and scored the winning goal.

“It was a good reaction from the team and we defended as a team to get the result until the last minute.

“I was really happy with the collective performance again and I think, as the leaders, we must compete like this home and away.

“It’s a really positive sign going into the last game of the first round of the league.”

Oliveri's brace takes his goal tally in Primera Andaluza (Granada) to 12 for the season - but the striker insisted he is more focused on the team's main objective of promotion, rather than personal accolades.

“I'm happy to score two more goals, but it is two more goals for the team and that’s the main thing for me at the moment – to be helpful as much as I can for the main objective, which is to be promoted.

“I’m really glad to play my part. I saw the reaction from my teammates and the staff on the bench and it was a really good feeling for everyone to get the winning goal.

“It was our objective to win this game away from home and we now move forward onto the following weeks.

"We keep moving on and will look to finish top with the most points so that we can to move onto the next part of the league.”
