South African forward Kwinda Netshitangani expressed his excitement, ahead of FC Malaga City Senior’s all-important final two games of the season.
Adrian Dominguez Igual’s side need four points from their remaining two games to guarantee promotion from Primera Andaluza (Malaga).
The 20-year-old revealed the squad understand the task ahead, and explained how support from around the world gives everyone extra motivation.
“As a group, we’re all buzzing,” he said.
“There’s a real team spirit and togetherness in the camp - and we’re ready to go and give it one final push in these last two games.
“We’re going to leave everything out on the field, we don’t want any sense of regret.
“The whole team knows what it means to be promoted and to write our names in FC Malaga City Academy’s history.
“The support from both local supporters and back home in South Africa is amazing.
“My home nation is football crazy and filled with nothing but well wishers.
“At times it feels like I’m carrying the whole nation on my shoulders, but instead of that being pressure it’s a badge of honour.”
Kwinda, who has made 20 appearances throughout the season, is competing in his first season in senior men’s football - and explained how putting his focus into a more specialist position has helped his development.
“My first senior season in Spain has been really enjoyable,” he continued.
“Personally I feel I have learnt a great deal and I enjoyed trying to cement my position as a winger.
“It’s always nice to specialise, as I think repetition is the master of perfection.
“That said, I would play in goal if the team needed me to and I would give it 100%.
“I started getting used to getting targeted by opponents and most times they would double team on me - and I see that as a compliment to my development.
“I’ve improved my work defensively and loved my 1-v-1 offensive duels, where I’m given the freedom to be creative.”
You can watch Kwinda and his teammates continue their promotion charge this Sunday at 19:00 on our official YouTube channel.
