Oliveri Delighted With 'Important Victory' For #FCMC Senior

Forward Maxime Oliveri expressed the importance of #FCMC Senior's 4-2 victory over CD Atlético de Marbella - as the team moved top of Primera Andaluza (Málaga).

Oliveri picked up where he left off at the end of last year, continuing his fine goal-scoring form by notching his seventh and eighth goals against Marbella, which propelled #FCMC up to first with three valuable points.

Adrián Dominguéz’s side had won six of their opening 10 games of the season, and Oliveri was left pleased with the reaction of the team against Marbella.

“It was a really good and really positive reaction,” the forward said.

“To start this new year with a win, it was really important for us to achieve the objective for the club.

“It is important for the academy to see to show the right example; to be back with the same winning mentality, to be competitive and to be focussed on our objectives.

“All of the players came back to training (after the winter break) and have worked hard to prepare for this game. We are really happy in the changing room.”

George Jermy opened the scoring with a quickly-taken free-kick, which caught the visitors off-guard inside the first 10 minutes, while Pablo Lajeunesse doubled FCMC’s lead just three minutes into the second-half.

Marbella pulled back level before the hour mark, but it was Oliveri that volleyed home an equaliser on 61 minutes before sealing the points with another terrific strike.

The in-form striker believes the team showed their metal in the second-half to react well after Marbella scored two quick goals and added that he was “satisfied” to get himself among the goals once again.

He said: “It showed that the squad have a great mentality. In this hard game, the opposition come back to 2-2 and the momentum can change at any time.

“We tried to keep our philosophy, to play our concept, which is to be more efficient in the top half, the offensive part.

"I am really satisfied with my goals today, but they were collective goals - they came from every player on the pitch and in the squad.

“We have a collective mindset and attitude to push everyone a little bit higher and, at the end, put ourselves in a good position in the table for the championship.”

Talking about his goalscoring form this season, Oliveri continued: “I don’t really look at that, if I’m being honest. My main goal is to play the best I can for my teammates and for the project here. If I score or assist my teammates, for me, that’s almost the same importance.”
