FC Malaga City Academy is proud to announce that Academy Alumni, Colton Farwell has secured a scholarship in the US with NCAA DI side Gardner Webb University for Fall 2023.
` Farwell, who has been a part of the FC Malaga City Academy for the past 2 seasons, recently making the decision to put pen to paper on the future of his academic and athletic career by committing to the Bulldogs for the next 4 years. The pacey fullback will join up with his teammates in the summer ahead of a huge freshman year in the ´Big South´ conference which contains a number of reputable athletic and academic institutions including UNC Ashville, Radford, Winthrop and Campbell University.
Colton will no doubt be prepared for this challenge however, after spending the last 2 years training full-time in a high level environment as well competing against some of the biggest teams in Spain and Europe. When the news broke, Academy Director, George Jermy commented by saying ¨We´re so excited to see yet another Academy product heading off to a top University in the US. From day one at our Academy we always stress to all of our Academy Members the importance of pursuing a high level education alongside their ambition to further their sporting careers and I´m delighted that Colton has found an opportunity to do just that.¨
George went on to say ¨I am sure he will go on to enjoy success in this next step in his career and from all of his family here in Spain we wish him the very best of luck. We will certainly be monitoring his progress over the next 4 years.¨

My time with FC Malaga City Academy allowed me to grow as a soccer player and mature as an individual. The training and coaching I received was amazing and playing top clubs in Europe helped prepare for college soccer and beyond.´
